Food

Emergency Rations

You can survive for much longer without food than you can without water so make sure you have your water situation squared away as priority number one.  However even though water is more important, food is critical if you need to maintain a certain level of energy and need to function so I doubt you can go a week or two without food and still be functional.  (Some say you can go 3 weeks without food.)  Although to not have food to the point where people are starving something terrible would need to happen.  Even during the great depression, people ate.  Rarely is starvation the killer when the Shit hits the fan, normally things like disease, violence and dehydration will do you in way before you starve to death,  (I’m just here to comfort you.)   I am more concerned with these flu outbreaks and possibly having to stay in my home for an extended amount of time. Freeze Dried food has a shelf live from 25-30 years so it’s nice to keep a few months supply of food around as “food insurance”.  We have insurance for everything else in our lives…why not the things that actually keep us alive like water and food etc.?

In emergency situations there are several ways to keep feeding yourself and your family and it doesn’t always have to taste bad either.  There are several tasty options to choose from.  In addition to storing food you can rely on other ways to feed you and your family too.
